March Through The Storm
The Falkand Islands are a very uninhabited place. The vast expanses of coastline are home to some of the hardiest wildlife and the extreme winds and temperatures can make life very difficult. Every evening on my trip I would watch the Gentoo and Magellanic Penguins come ashore on Saunders Island after their day at sea feeding. On this particular evening the wind was racing violently across the beach causing intricate waves and patterns in the sand. The setting sun was highlighting the ever changing shape of the beach as the Penguins made their way to shelter. Having the few penguins in this image for me reminds me of just how vast and inhospitable the landscape really was.
